Megalodon and the Maya

On this past sojourn to the Cleveland Natural History Museum Kelly, the kids, and I enjoyed time spent in the shadow of Megalodon, the largest fish to have ever lived. The children also explored some ethnobotany and ecology from the world of the Maya.

Go big or go home. This must have been the Megalodon philosophy that saw this large fish into its position as apex predator of the seas during the

A world of superlatives! Big, bigger biggest..... scary, scarier, scariest!
Fun with electromagnets! Nico (left) and Anna (right) try to reconstruct the fractured pieces of a cylindrical pot to show a Maya relief.
Kelly (behind) and Nico (front) investigate some of the mammals of South America and their skulls.
Looking through a magnifying glass Nico gives a careful look at the seeds of staple crops used by the Maya.
Anna helps her brother construct a puzzle.

Nico (right) and Anna (center) perform a dance of their own on stage for their mother Kelly (left).

The family enjoys a picnic replete with hummus, red pepper, cashews, olives, bread, and banana.

Rock out Anna!
